The girls love to go to the Breakers for lunch and swimming. This particular afternoon was a bit too windy so we discovered this great playground there instead. Mary thought she was in heaven. She had a one track mind: See the slide. Climb up the stars to get to the slide. Go down the slide. Repeat. Lily had equally as much fun doing all the things Mary couldn't do. Even Dad and Caroline enjoyed themselves. The afternoon ended with Lily getting a ride arount the parking lot on the Vespa my dad (the girls call him Papa) rented. I think he's feeling old. :-)
Lily has a lot of fun putting dress up clothes on Mary. This activity can take up the majority of any day. Mary complies initially, but she doesn't have the staying power that Lily has. Mary gets fed up after about the third wardrobe change. I was in the kitchen one day and I could here Lily talking to Mary, as Mary was whimpering, "It's ok, Mary, we're almost there." So I went in her room to see what was going on. Lily had a huge poofy dress over Mary's head and was struggling to get her arms through. Mary was beginning to cry so I took the dress off of her and she was pleased. Lily had to revert to dressing up her play dolls, but still starts every dress up session using Mary as her live model. :-) Mary thinks she is four ( naturally, :-) ). So she tries to do everything she sees her big sister do. Here, she was walking by the princess table with her waffle in her hand and noticed Lily had left her yogurt unattended... She helped herself. And did a pretty good job, too! Matching the girls in their clothes is so much fun. It's one of the great benefits of having two girls! Plus, they're just so cute :-) The girls love to go visit Aunt Kathleen at her store and play with all the fun things there. Mary was very impressed that she put these rain boots on all by herself. ;-) MARY got this car for Christmas but often, Mary has to fight to use it, or be the chauffeur!! Santa should have brought two!!!! Lily is very proud of her new puzzle. She loves putting it together and taking it apary again. And again. And again. :-) |
